Got a new computer, need some help

Hey,
I just picked up a new pc last night. I was unable to build my own so I just bought one from a store....it was an emergency. Anyways, when I looked at the specs it seemed pretty awesome, but when I got home and tested FEAR and Doom 3, it ran pretty bad, I had to put the settings to medium-low for it to run good. After getting slammed from some people in my class for buying a computer, it turns out that the problem is with the video card, but then one of them said that I couldn't upgrade to a good one because my slots suck.

Heres my specs ,supposedly I can't get a good videocard because I have PCI-E x1 which is bad? I don't know a lot about computers, but if anyone can help that would be great. Oh and I was told that my 2 year warantee would be void if I opened it up.

it says that the PCI-E 1x is whats available, it could be that the 7300LE 64MB is in your PCI-E 16X slot... i think the easyiest way to check would be to take the side cover off and have a peak in. Below is an image of the slot types..

the white ones to the left are old PCI-bus slots = crap for Graphics Cards... the short black ones are your PCI-E 1x and the two other ones (blue) is your PCI-E 16X which you will need to upgrade..



there is another way to check by getting a program which can tell us what your motherboard is.. i think it is called Everest some one correct me if im wrong..
 
Your problem IS with your video card. I would be amazed if someone could run a graphics hungry game like Doom 3 on a 7300 LE 64MB. But if your motherboard allows DDR2, Dual Core processing, and SATA II, Then i wouldnt be surprised if it had a PCI-E x16 slot.

I've seen some Dell's that had all that stuff and didn't have a PCI-Express 16x slot. However, if you have a 7300, that should be an actual card. Though if you can't crack the case open to check or replace it, there's not much you can do...

Using everest home edition I went into PCI devices, then nvidia G72 video apapter, then in properties it says

Device Description----------nVIDIA G72 Video Adapter
Bus Type-------------------PCI Express x16

yada yada yada...is that right?\
 
It SHOULD be a PCI-Express slot as I don't think there's an onboard version of the 7300... However, you can have onboard PCI-Express video cards.

i think that means you have the type slot you need.... YAYA... but lets double check this... go to motherboard in everest and get your make and model for your motherboard..

well even without that it seems you do have a 16x slot. I don't know if it will void your warranty to open it and check, but that seems to be the only other option to be completely sure..
 
OOo, I just looked at something, I went to start>run then typed in dxdiag, i went to display and it says this

It says integrated there....does the mean im screwed?
 
I think i have a pci express x16 slot. I opened my computer and Im pretty sure the videocard was in the slot. It the one that has the latch at the end?
 
is it short or long? and was it at the top of all the slots?

look at the pic i posted to get an idea of what PCI-E 16x looks like
