So on the weekend I got Modern Warfare 2.... So I installed it and what not and played the first mission (the city one with the school)

Then I started the snow airforce base one.... Got inside the camp and bang... Screen goes all grey/blue vertical lines etc computer freezes and is non responsive and the sound eventually starts to stutter....

Now Ive had this before with GTAIV etc and all it was was drivers etc so I thought hey Modern Warfare 2 is a new game I just need to update my drivers....

But the internet was down (stupid internet) and I couldnt download so I played some Empire Total War for a while.... Then in a middle of a battle the computer froze (no grey/blue just stoped on the one frame of the game) and became non responsive....

Now Ive had Empire Total War for ages with no problems so what the hell I started freaking out....

So anyway I eventually downloaded the new ATI driver 9.11 (up from 9.8) and tried Modern Warfare 2 again expecting it to be fine...

But it still crashes at the same point in the same way...

So now Im paranoid that my graphics card or something is dodgy....

So any ideas as to the problem? Or have you heard anything about Modern Warfare 2? But yeah Empire Total War doing it has me freaked cause that never happens..

Thanks for any advice....

As you probably already know, hardware degrades over time. I have the same problem all the time with my graphics card (it freezes all the time), but that's because it's a bottleneck in my system. What are the specs of your rig?

Nah I havent... Its a factory OC 4890 though...

But at the moment Im running my CPU at stock (I did have it OC but its so damn fast that its wasnt much point so I clocked it back to stock again lol)

Ok now its pissing me off....

It seems now that its crashing/grey screening on any game..... Mrs was playing The Sims 3 and it even did it in there....

Please seriously anyone got any ideas....

I would agree that it could be the factory OC is becoming unstable. Also, have you tried monitoring your temps during game play?
