hey, new here...well ive got about 500 buck for a new computer, my hp laptop is about 4 yrs old and getting more and more problems everyday. sooo what should i look in to? ill be using it for some light gaming, nothing to serious, and just internet chattin...things like that. any help is appreciated. thanks, and if i was too vague with anything just let me know and ill do my best to answer questions u have.

Well if your willing to build your own computer, Praetors $500 play build in Computer Specs 101 is very nice.

If you want something prebuilt, look for at least 512 Mb of RAM and a dedicated video card will help out tons in gaming. AMD processors tend to do better in gaming but you said your only doing light gaming.

i can build you something cheap.... or you can just buy the parts...

AMD Sempron 64 3100+ with SSE3: $80
Abit KV-80 AGP Socket 754: $60
XFX 6600GT 128MB: $115
512MB DDR400 (or 1GB): $30 ($60 for 1GB)
16x DVD-RW: $40
160GB SATA: $80
Windows XP: (talk to me in a PM)

want lights in your case?

let me know if your interested, i can sell cheaper then newegg

EDIT: added prices

Most companies include their own warranty on the parts. And most of the time if its a defected component, Newegg will replace it.
