Gpu Heatsink

hey all

wile i was cleaning my mums 440 mx nvidia video card i acidently knocked the heatsink and i new i had broken the seal. so i now have to buy some thermal paste and stick it back on.... any tips?
 
the xm 440 doesnt particulairy get hot or so ( noticable on the quite small heatsink), so, just get some paste, and put it back on.
the only suggestion i have is, dont put too much paste between the heatsink and the GPU, because then it can start isolating instead of conducting :)
 
yea make sure you clean it thoroughly with some rubbing alcohol.. the higher the percentage the better... and a lint free clothe... i use coffee filters. arctic silver 5 is probably the best safest thermal compound out there.
coolabs made a solution thats liquid metal, and conducts a lot more heat.. but it can have violent reactions with aluminum.
