GPU & Monitor issue

OK, after doing a re organize of the inside of my tower & connected a new monitor i bought i noticed the monitor takes ages to power up from power saving mode & sometimes lasts as long as until win7 has full7 loaded up. This happens whenever i boot up from cold mostly when i turn off for the night n boot up in the morning.

This dosnt happen when i reboot due to updates or whatever only when i boot up after its been off for a while.

Could this be cause by a lack of power been provided into the GPU at the first boot & there for not able to fully activate until other hardware have fully activated & then require less power? I've been told hardware uses the most power during first boot up of the day & then drops back as you use it so a reboot everything is already powered up & isnt effecting my GPU.

So could this be the problem of to much power been sucked out of the lead coming from my PSU in which case i may need to re organize the connections?
Its the only thing i can think of to why it takes so long to activate from first boot.

Any help would be great.

Thanks:D

oh come on, this is my 2nd post about the same issue but refined a little & no replies. Its apparently a common thing when i googled but none of there fix's fixed mine..

I agree that it takes a lot longer than it should but my guess is that when you put your monitor in power saving mode overnight it is almost like turning it on from a cold startup. it will take a bit of time to get powered on and get going. When you need to reboot, it is off only for a few seconds and it is still warm from running it earlier. It will be up considerably faster than if it was off for a long period.

As far as it being a gpu problem, I have serious doubts about that. Your monitor has a power cord of it's own and I am 99% sure that how long it takes to wake up has nothing to do with your connection from your gpu.

It would be nice to have some specs on your monitor and how you have it set up.

last thing, do you leave your monitor on when you turn your computer off?

Monitor is an LG FLATRON W2243S. I have monitor directly connected now to my GPU. MY GPU is an XFX HD 4870 & ive not had this problem until i connected an extra Sata HD 1tb drive which required a cable splitter as i ran out of connections.

I never leave monitor on in power saving mode, whenever i shut down my system i turn monitor off also & when i boot up the system i turn on the monitor. Its very annoying as i installed all drivers needed & still the same result. Im going to try my wifes monitor tomo which is an Acer x201 as my old ones now my sons & he refuses to let me borrow it. I'm confident its not monitor as its bran new.

But if you could shed some light on it as ive no idea whats happening. I have duel boot for xp & win 7 so when i boot up & want to switch which OS i want i cant as it sticks into power saving mode until windows whichever it is has booted up if im lucky.

Edit...

OK, i switched over monitors, mine on the wifes & wifes on mine & they instantly came on when i turned on the systems as they should, even quick enough to see the first post screen of the GPU installed. But i stuck mine back in mine & exact same thing happens as it always does when i shut down & then boot up, it dosnt activate quick enough & hung until the point where win7 desktop was loading up.

Same situation as before, its the specific monitor that fails to activate on first boot up of the day.
