Gpu not performing

HEy all i currently have a 3870 x2 but it feels to me like its not doing as well as it should.

I did have a 8800 gts 320mb and i have noticed a boost, but no way near as i expected.

Could the rest of my system be bottlenecking it?

Or could my pcie 1.0 slot be hampering its performance?

This is a benchmark i found

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ati-r680-rage-fury-maxx-2,1764-15.html

Im playing cod 4 on 1280 x 1024 and eveyrthing is maxed other than aa and af.

Despite what that benchmark says im not pulling off totally smooth play :/

Fallout 3 is another example, i have had it maxed out and it runs perfectly...when im walking in a straight line, but as soon as look around it seems very choppy.

As i said before is something bottlencking it (i think thats the right term) or am i not setting ccc properly as i dont understand the options in there?

Well the 3870 X2 is not that much better then the 8800GTX. So going from a 8800GTS to a 3870 X2 is not going to be a huge difference.

HWcompare led me to beleive other wise,

This is my old card, the 8800 gts and the 3870 x2 down from mine

http://www.hwcompare.com/4846/geforce-8800-gts-g80-320mb-vs-radeon-hd-3870-x2-512mb/

(iv put the 512mb on in here as that shows the game benchmarks)

To me that seems like a pretty hefty increase in performance.

My 3870 x2 is struggling with modern warfare 2 with all the eye candy on at 1280 x 768

Could it be something other than my card or are the benchmarks wrong?

I have bfbc2 and i get no way near that good of performance as hwmonitor suggests.

3870x2 gets 16k in 3dmark06 (1280x1024), 8800gt gets about 11k.

It's probably your CPU. 2.4GHz is ok for everyday use, but for gaming it's recommended to have atleast a 3.0GHz
