GPU/ Other upgrade advice

INTRO
------------------------
Hello, I have not upgraded my computer ever, and I know general computer terms, but not super specific stuff, and I need help. I mainly need advice on GPUs but I would like to buy myself a new PSU, but I have no idea what to do. Plus I would like to upgrade my ram but I know how to do that.

GOALS
-----------------------
My goal of this upgrade is to be able to play what ever game at high or ultra settings 60fps at 1080p but I am willing to go to 720p but it is not preferable. I do not need to absolutely murder games, but just have a good experience with just about anything. Also I at least want to play the new Battlefront game at 60< fps consistantly.

BUDGET
--------------------
My GPU budget is roughly around $200. If you can help me save money that would be geat, but I would prefer spending $20 extra rather than having a half decent GPU.

SPECS
----------------------
GPU: Nvidia Quadro FX 580
CPU: Intel i5 3.33GHz quad core
RAM: 4GB
PSU: I think 250 Watt
If anything else is needed just ask me to tell you.

Please help I would like to play great computer games but I do not want to blindly pick out computer parts. Thanks for your help!

Well first of all, in order to play ANY game at ultra with 60FPS+ you will need more RAM (at least 8gb) and at least a 500w powersupply to avoid shut downs and powersupply failures. With a budge of $200-$220, you could buy a pretty good GPU, but I wouldn't expect 60fps in ultra settings with games like Far Cry 4 or GTA V (a moderator can correct me if I'm wrong). I would suggest a GTX 960 SSC 4BG model, which may cost you a little over $200 bucks, and for a power supply I'd go with a Corsair CS650M (650w) model which is ABOUT $90 bucks from Amazon, as well as being semi modular which adds extra bonuses. For RAM, I'd go with 2x4GB Kingston HyperX fury DDR3 memory, which I personally use and is great for gaming. With this set up, you can expect at least 60fps+ on high settings with most games, and with Battlefront 3 coming out there is actually a site where you can put in your specs and it will tell you what you can expect, which I went ahead and did for you (including the recommended items) and got a solid result. You can run it on High settings with no problem, to try yourself check it out here: http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=8081&game=Star Wars: Battlefront

Hope this helped!

Thank you very much. I did do some research before hand and I thought a GTX 960 would be a good idea although could I just buy a 2gb of vram instead of 4 I was thinking of buying either

This:
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-...=UTF8&qid=1439400464&sr=1-1&keywords=GTx+960?

Or this:
http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Gami...439400513&sr=1-1&keywords=Gigabyte+gtx+960+g1

Which one would you recommend?

Also I am planning to get 8gb of ram, so I would have a total of 12 gb of ram for a little extra breathing room. Do you think that you might be able to find a cheaper PSU? because I have roughly $300, but I was going to save some for the ram too. Thank you so much for your suggestion.

Yes, as Voyagerfan99 said you don't want to go with a cheap PSU. In regards to the GPU, the 4GB version will be the better option only being a few $ more (all if you can afford it, of course). I'm guessing you have the HP or Intel RAM (standard)? In that, case I'd buy a 2x4GB set so that the RAM matches, as going with different types can mess the overall performance up. Being that you roughly have $300, I did a quick research and found this for the 3 components you want to get;
  • EVGA GTX 960 SSC ACX 2GB GPU - $199.99 - Amazon
  • Kingston HyperX Fury 4x2GB RAM - $44.99 - Amazon
  • Corsair CX500M - $61.98 - Newegg
This (which I added the 2GB GPU model, 4GB might be $30 more) is just over your budget at $306.96, but for the value you'll be getting great parts. Try https://pcpartpicker.com/ to get a good deal on shipping and tax etc, might be even cheaper too. Hope we could help!

For the PSU is it 500 watt continuous or peak? Plus can I just get 2x4gb RAM rather than 4x2? So later I might be able to buy some more? Thank you very much for your help and advice.

500w peak. A psu will only draw as much power as it needs. And it's most efficient closest to peak load.

Yes you can get 2x4gb. That's all up to you.

And like I said before I'd get a 4gb card.

Is this a pre-built or a custom PC? Can't make RAM recommendations without knowing your motherboard model.

What is the type? (4 digit number somewhere on the case near the model number - ex: 3269, 6213)

5974? That is 4 numbers.

Also why is this important? I did some research and I should be able to buy what Kam recommended with 2x4 Hyper Fury X DDR3 ram. I looked up if my computer can use DDR3 and it can. What is the significance of the Motherboard stuff?

PS On amazon I can actually get the corsair CX 600 watts like new condition for $57 Should I do this incase of future upgrades?

I can't find that one specifically on Crucial.com but I the models vary. Some support 4GB of RAM while other support 16GB.

If its got 4 memory slots it will support 16gb. Look for a 4 digit type number on a sticker. The cx600 is a good model to have. The GTX 960 only requires 500 watts though.
