Alright.
I have a 7900gs on stock cooling, sitting under a PCI slot cooler.
I want to over clock my card enough to where I see a difference in performance.


I was told several programs, but I don't know which one works the best, and easy. If possible, I'd like someone to walk me through it one on one. Like on a messenger or just semi detailed instructions on this thread.

The 2 most used programs i believe are:

Coolbits: Works with the nvidia drivers. I think you can just drag sliders
Riva Tuner: A little more advanced.

I dont have much experience.
 
You can use Coolbits or ATItool. I've never actually overclocked an Nvida card; I'm sure there are others who can help you more than I can ;)
 
Overclocked an GeForce2... thats it. Rivatuner is moving bars too. Just install, and if its supported it will let you overclock... Some video cards cannot be overclocked (like my FX5200)


Tip - Make sure that fan is blowing AT it, not sucking...
 
I would recommend ATI Tool, especially since it's one of the only ones that has an artifact detector so you know when you reached the limit if your card.
 
He has a 7600 gs though. I looked but i couldnt find an ATI tool that worked with nviidia cards.

Am i missing something?

From my limited experience, id say use coolbits + ntune (or whatever that setup is)

You should probably use an app to keep an eye on your temps at first (if nto at all times)
 
How do I make my PCI fan suck in and blow at the card.

Or is it fine the way it is.

Cause the slot fan blows air out of the case.

Can I get a direct download link to a program? I keep getting reg files and I am adding them and idk. Lol.

That could be a problem when he has a NVIDIA videocard.

It's not a problem. I used ATI Tool to overclock my 7600GS and my 8800GTS, both worked perfectly without any problems. I had alot more options to tweak and I got a higher OC using ATI Tool then using nTune.

And thats another good thing about ATI Tool. It allows you to monitor the temperature and control the fan speed.

The easiest way is to take apart the assembly and turn the fan over

Wow I didn't know that I think I will use that when I overclock my 8800GTS.

coolbits is a registry file - you add it to the registry and then go into display properties and then you can adjust the clock frequencies, however the newer drivers dfont let you do it but 93.71 do and thats the best driver IMO
