I just bought my computer from a reliable website who builds computers, and ive had this for about 1 month now. recently my computer has been turning off during starcraft 2 due to overheating around 90-105 Celsius. This has been happening for the last week id say. I have tried making sure everything is plugged in tightly into the graphics card. Ive noticed that the graphics card fan will try to spin and then it will turn off and repeat this process.
specs :
intel i5 2500k cpu
radeon 6870 graphics card
1 tb hardrive
8 gb of ram
liquid cooling system standard 120 mm fan
750 watt corsair psu
ASUS P8Z68-V LX mobo
windows 7

could this be a faulty psu?

ive tried reinstalling video cards, changing fan speed, repairing game, system restore, checked plugins

It's hard to say, what are your voltage readings in the BIOS? Don't use software programs for proper readings which is what I've learned thanks to some members on here. If they're fine then I would rule out the video card. When you say reinstalling video cards do you mean you tried another card with the same result? I had a PSU fail on me and the GPU wouldn't overheat my system would simply freeze to the point where I had to do a hard restart.

If your video card is over heating and causing bluescreens and shutdowns, why would you think your power supply is defective?

re

how should I go about troubleshooting the issue? How do I check the bios for voltage numbers I only see cpu voltage and no by what i meant was that I re installed the drivers.

When you restart you system press delete to enter the BIOS, somewhere in the menus you should be able to see system health, consult your motherboard instruction manual if you can't find it.

Alright I havent done what you said right now, but I tried my HD radeon 4870 from my other computer and the fan wont spin on this one either and overheated to 90 Celsius in the time span of 5 mins. could it be a loose plug in on the mobo? i have no clue with this could be now

you got the same problem in other games? Because some games don't enable vsync so you can get higher fps, but also overheating...
My old nvidea card burned with playing dead island (vsync problem). From then my gpu always gots 100° if I don't enable speedfan. Use speedfan to set your fanspeed higher.

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

I have also ran a disk check and nothing came up.

The result I got is not good.

According to this error, its uncorrectable and it looks to be caused by your intel processor with bad cache.... I would however get a second opinion.

You definately need to contact where you bought it and see what they can do for you.

However, I would replace the video card first to see if you still get bluescreens.

re

I opened my computer up and unscrewed my liquid cooling system and looked at the cpu and thermal compound looked okay and plugged it all back in and havent gotten a BSOD for 3 hours, but my graphics card fan is still broken :(

is it really broken? Or doesn't it work?
try the program speedfan, my old burned card can play games then, but only if the fan speed is on 75%...
If I don't use it I can play 2 minutes and then my pc (now from my brother) crashes.

Get a new card and hopefully the blue screens will not reappear.
