Gpu question

Hello all!

I have a quick question about video cards! I don't know a lot about their operation! My mobo supports PCI 2.0. Performance wise would it be better to get the best card for that interface or get a good 3.0 card? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you got a 3.0 card it would run at 2.0 speeds.

Most cards aren't hugely bottlenecked by 2.0 16x so it shouldn't make a large difference.

What cards were you looking at?

Haven't gotten that far. Was trying figure out which direction to go first. I just noticed I left out a small detail as well! It's PCIe 2.0 if that makes enough of a difference. I had a evga GeForce gtx 460. My main game I would be playing is elite dangerous.
