GPU Ramsinks

I have to apply some of my ramsinks, and was wondering if I should use ceramique again. I'm not sure if that bonds it though..


Any ideas?

Ceramique is just a thermal compound, not a thermal adhesive. For a thermal adhesive would be something like Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive:

Your looking for an adhesive right? If so then all you need is to get some arctic silver thermal adhesive off newegg, although its almost an epoxy so once you put on say a ramsink... that puppy aint gonna be coming off anytime soon Its a two part mix by the way...

I got to thinking about it though... if you want something a little less permanent i know that 3M makes some thermal tape, ill see if i can find a link to it.

Yeah, the ramsinks came with adhesive and tape, but I wanted to put thermal compound on them, and since my case moves a lot, I decided to make sure nothing can pop off, lol.

Just want to double check something..

If I apply AS5 to a heatsink, and some leaks over, will it do anything? I'm going to be replacing my 360's thermal paste, and plan on using AS5 this time.

Check the AS5 website, it is designed to not conduct electricity. I used AS5 to replace my GPU heatsink and I haven't had any problems so far. It might conduct a little across short bridges, but I would think as long as you don't use a ridiculous amount you wouldn't have to worry about it anyways.

Do you think I should replace my aftermarket coolers with my stock coolers? I didn't notice much of a difference with the fans with the aftermarkets, even when I added a 100mm fan to each card.


My cards are currently sitting at:
GPU 1: 52C
GPU 2: 41C

If I do change them again, I may be able to put my PSU on the bottom of my case, so.


I don't want to get another set of coolers, since I might not be using these cards for very long.

If you dont plan on keeping the cards then i would just leave them a they are

They might gain more intrest if they have aftermarket coolers on them.

I can't find if ArctiClean conducts electricity or not. I want to remove the thermal paste from my CPU and CPU/GPU on my 360, but don't know if I should use Arctic Clean or Isopropy.

just use alchohol if your not sure, i would imagine artic clean is just another solvent, but i'm not really sure

Arcticlean is fine, i use it solely on my heatsinks and whatnot, normally i do stage 1, stage 2, then a quick douse with 97% alcohol for good measure.

Hate to side track/hijack or whatever, but it is related and rather than opening up a new post, thought this would be a better idea...how should you go about removing RAM heatsinks or the heatsinks that are on the chips around the mobo (both them and VGA RAM heatsinks are on in the same way)?
