GPU suggestions

Moving my 8600 GT to my back-up system, so I'm looking for something to replace it with. Don't need anything super-special; +/- $75-90 range is fine (ordering via Newegg along with a few other items). Nvidia-based is a must (I'm a fanboy), and EVGA, XFX, or Gigabyte are preferred, but not absolutely necessary. Mobo is a Gigabyte EP31-DS3L, zero space issues inside my case.

I'll welcome any suggestions. Thanks :)

GT240 is a dog card. With Nvidia the 9600GT outperforms it. In that price range you could go for a 9600GT or even a 9800GT.

OK, let's up it to the +/-$100 range. For some reason, I'm getting an inkling to just build another system. :(

If you want i have a HIS 4670 1gb... check the fs section or pm me, i'm sure we can arrange something ;)

Looking at a GTS 250. You didnt mention MSI but I have had a couple of these and they are kick butt cards.

Checked out the Reviews on Newegg - 100% 5-eggs, but only 4 reviews. I'll admit, GPU's aren't (and never were) my strong point. When I was in the business, 99% of the cards I bought were very low-end to be used in office systems. I'm all for using a brand other than what I mentioned, but I know and trust the EVGA, XFX, and GB names so they were the obvious choices for me.

Ordering tonight/tomorrow morning for Wednesday delivery; most-likely going with what Strangle mentioned:

Although I was doing a little bit more browsing and found these three. How do they compare to the first link?

I would go with the MSI. But if you have a space shortage the Gigabyte GTS 250 would work just fine. Both are better then the 9800GT, the GTS 250 is a updated 9800GTX+.

The two I bought are running just fine in builds. Ran one in mine for a few months, ran cool upper 30c idle and mid 50c under load on auto. Had one of each 1gb. and 512mb. Could not tell the difference, dont know if 1gb. really helps it that much. Heard they overclock really well too.

1GB runs textures at a higher settings in games. That's about it.
