gpu temp monitors?

hey was wonderin' if there was a program taht monitored the temps of ur gpu, if supported by the gpu....anyways throw me a link, thanx in advance

No, the only way to measure the temp on your gpu is by mounting a thermal probe on it. Similar to the probes used on cpu's.

Hmmm...

Are you sure? As far as I know the top grpahics cards have their own sensors already integrated in the GPU. Therefore, the card fan RPMs change according to temps. However, how you view those... I must admit I do not know.

Ok that might be true I'm not 100% sure.

But his sig told me he's using a FX5200 and I doubt they support it.

the new line of cards (GeForce 6 series at least, don't know about ATi's x series) come with temperature sensors, the old ones don't

On some cards that have a temperature diode like the later nvidia ones and im sure the ATI ones too, you can see it from display properties

LOL ya i know with the FX5200 there wasnt a temp monitor (since it doesnt get hot) but it was more of a general statement

5200s dont need a fan simply because they dont push out enough heat. Suffice it to say they thus dont need a temperature diode

5200s packing a fan are usually a bad thing cuz they slop on a cheap fan and a cheap heatsink .... which is worse than a good heatsink and no fan ....

tha's true, but they gave me a cheap ass heat sink and a tiny ass fan that barely blew air yea bo bo i'm gunna have to try the electrical tape "mod"

5200s dont need a fan simply because they dont push out enough heat.

Mine got very hot when I was gaming.....like 110*F, so I stuck the fan on, and it brought it down a lot.

That's what I figured, for something so crappy, it shouldn't be so hot. I also wanted to OC it, but then I OCed it too far and it blew out, and no games work
