hmmm..that seems a bit higher just for idle. My card idles at around 48 degrees. Is the hsf assembly installed correctly on the card? Does your case have good ventilation?

whats hfs?

Heatsinkfan, I believe. And yes it's quite high for idle, mine is 34-36C idle. And around 40-60 on full load.

mine idles arund 45-50 with as5 on.

Video cards do run a bit hotter than CPU's, but 60C is on the high side. Are you sure thats your GPU?

PC Wizard says its 56C and SpeedFan says its 63C, I think its a wrong reading, it there a program vy nVidia that measures GPU temp?

What type of case do you have anyway? If you have 1 fan then there is your source.

Mine idles around 59, but that's because I have a cheap @$$ case with only 1 80mm fan onthe side... :(

i changed the thermal compound on my 6600gt and it took 25 degrees of the original load temps... i would recommend it highly

Do you suggest I put some Ac5 on it? If yes, where on the heat-sink?
I would recommend doing that, i did it and it lowered my temps 5-10C.

When you look at your card, you will see a large heatsink and/or fan on it. On the back there should be some screws holding it in place, simply unscrew these. To take off the heatsink, wiggle it around some to try and losses the tackyness (dont pull it right off). Then take a paper towel and some q-tips and clean up all the old paste, then put a tiny drop of AS5 on it.

Thanks for the suggestion, I just finished doing it now I'm 50C at idle, is it good?

After playing FEAR for 15' it PC Wizard says its 68C, I really think its a wrong reading, is there a program by nVidia that monitors GPU temps?

I touch the GPU's fan and it stops, I touch the CPU's and my finger goes 'Zzzzzzzzzzzz' against the fan, I plugged another fan I bought (using an adapter) on the same 4-pin cables the DVD/HDD etc. get power from and it wasnt strong enough, I then plugged it into the mobo and it was very strong, the same I guess applies with the GPU's fan; it isn't strong enough because its plugged into the 4-pin power cable. What do you think I can do?

thats about right for 6600's to be honest... they run pretty hot
68C under load isnt that hot. My friends got up to 90C or so, and all of my cards are around 70-75C load.

mine was hitting 89 degrees at one point, which is why i changed the thermal compound.

but my point (which i didn't mention lol) was most people take their reference of whats a good temperature from a cpu, i was just pointing out that temps like these are normal
