Is 73C normal for my GPU after playing FEAR for about an hour?
I use PC Wizard by CPUID to measure temp. how exactly does it read the temp, is there a thermometer on the GPU, if not then these reading may be false, I think that the temperature is based on calculations that PC Wizard makes...
Also I just turn on my PC and immediately check the GPU temp; it says 55C, it takes 10 seconds (as long as to turn on my PC) to reach 55C?

It's an okay temp. My previous x800GTO got up toa round 75C after playing a game, and my friends old 6600GT got up to around 90C.
 
GPU and CPU are two different things there. CPUID is not for video cards. It is for identifying the make and model cpu as well as reading those temps. If you are seeing your processor up at 73C you need to do something about it fast to prevent damage. Generally these softwares use the board's own temp sensors to put out the readings you see. But they are not always reliable.

To correct the temp situation with an overheating cpu you would first get a can of compressed air sold as air cleaners to get all of the dust and dirt buildup out of your case as well as the fan. If the fan runs normal afterwards your next step would be most likely the reseat of the processor due to the letting go of the preformed thermal paste known as thermal pads with a quality compound to see the temps drop to the normal range. For video cards you can buy addon cooling fans if you suspect your card is overheating.

CPUID is the company. They make programs called ClockGen, CPU-z, and PC Wizard. PC Wizard tells you information on all of your system components, not just your CPU.
 
i wouldn't like that temp... but 73C definitely wont do it any harm.
ive had 75C in full load before, but that was without the fan on, it was an accident lol.
never hits 50C with the fan on

Note: The GPU is manufactured by Assus

I noticed that the fan doesn't turn fast at all, do you suggest I get a new, stronger one?
 
i wouldnt invest in a good fan, seeing how it will most likely be about half the price of the video card itself.
 
It depends if you do a lot of gaming or running some demanding graphics apps where the card's own temps will climb along with the cpu's. I often hear complaint on overheating video cards. If you plan on clocking the card out you also consider something extra.
