So, i've heard two things as of late. One that the 7900 gs destroys the 8600 gts, also that the 8600 gts destroys 7900 gs. Now which is it? I looked at the specs, and well considering that the 8600 gts has about 32 gb of bandwidth, and that the 7900 gs has about 42.5 i figured that the 7900 gs beat's the 8600 gts in overall performance, but is bandwidth the end of the story? And which card seems to perform better? xfx 7900 gs xxx , or 8600 gts xxx?

The 8600gts will perform slightly better. It is on par with the 7900gt which isn't far off your GS.

You can't accurately compare the specs of two very different cards. They both have a different core architecture.. better technology in a nutshell.

They actually perform really closely, I guess it depends what games you are going to play.

As for memory bandwidth, that rarely makes a difference in terms of performance, there are many other factors that make more of an impact.

Again, the clock speeds arent a huge factor. Have a look at www.gpureview.com where you can compare specs. It's hard to compare the new 8 series with the 7 series because they are different.
