grafics cards

Each brand is good in different respects, it really comes down to which card from Nvidia and Radeon you're comparing. I personally like to know what is best in similar price ranges, what each company offers for the cash(price to performance ratio), because at the end of the day you do have a max budget. It might be a really extreme or fairly modest, but most people have a spending limit. You mentioned wanting a card that can run games at max settings, you might be looking at a higher end card like a gtx570 from Nvidia or an hd6950 from Radeon.

Nvidia has technologies Radeon doesn't, and vice versa. Radeon is great for lower power consumption, multiple monitor support on a single card, better core performance, and in some cases lower heat. Nvidia has physx support, 3dvision support, cuda cores, and is stronger with memory and bandwidth. They have been reported to run notably hot, especially with the gtx2**/gtx4** generation, but that's probably because they are hard workers. The newer 5xx gen offered some cooling upgrades, but they are far from resolved.

It would be easier to compare two cards side by side though, which ones are you interested in?

thank you Russ for this information I do not know between AMD RADEON HD 6850 and the NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 460 1 GO ???
