Graphic Card Questions

Hi,

Sorry I am not sure where I should put this, I just assume under this category. If not please move.

I am trying to find out if my friend is using the onboard video or the low profile video card on her PC.

This is the PC she have: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229496

This PC is using this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130730

I am trying to find out if the motherboard onboard video is a intel or amd. The reason I ask is that when i ran GPU-Z it detected as AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series, it shows memory size 1GB. I was wondering if that was the onboard video since the description of the computer is listed with AMD Radeon R7 240 2GB.

Is there a way for me to check and find out what is the one on the motherboard?

Any information is appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Onboard would be intel but it all depends on what processor she has. The video is actually on the cpu itself now. Look under display adapters and it should tell you what it has. Is the monitor cable attached to the video card or the motherboard video port. The r7 240 is basically a rebranded 7700 series card it looks like.

She have the i5 4690k. The monitor cable is actually plugged into the onboard and the card which made me question and wonder if disabling the onboard will give her the potential 2Gb that was stated for that PC.

Press Windows button and the R key.

Type: dxidag

Then click on the Display 1 tab and it will tell you.

You should just be able to move over the monitor to the 240. A lot of newer integrated setups stay enabled by default with another graphics card, typically used for extending your desktop into other displays.

The discrete card is slightly faster than the iGPU but not by a whole lot.
