graphic card with missing capacitor

Hi everybody!
I just got an ASUS geforce 5900 from ebay. the thing is, one of the capacitor(condensator) is broken, so the seller had to sell it without this electronic component.
if I just put this graphic card inside my computer, would it work? would it damage my mainboard?
do I really have to repair it before I can use it?
thanks!

If you do that, the card wont be of much use. Capacitors regulate the power of the card. You will have to repair it for a succesfull POST.

if its part of a group of capacitors that are the same rating.... they're usually clustered if they are... you may be able to purchase one and solder it on yourself.
I would seriously look at finding out which capacitor it is and be 100% sure you're correct. I wouldn't put it into my system if a capacitor was missing

so.,. I decided to plug the card into the computer. and....., it didn't work. :p
I guess I'll have to buy the capacitor myself... but the problem is, I dont know which one to buy.., I mean how much micro farrad does it have., or how much volts..., coz on the top side of the other capacitors ( which is the same capacitor that is missing), there's only 4 things that is written (313, SVP, 1200, 4) these are the numbers that are written on the top side. when I asked the technician about these numbers, he said: "I dont know either, what I need is how big is the Farrad and the volt thing".
So, I really dont know how am I supposed to buy this missing capacitor.
any suggestions?
(btw, there's a slot for the power supply-4 pins on the card, should it be connected to the power cable?)

It's a SANYO OS-CON SVP series, 1200 microfarad, 4 volt. http://www.waifong.hk has them. Don't replace it with any old capacitor, they used OS-CON because it's a sensitive application. Yes, after repair, connect the power supply. http://badcaps.net i smore information about capacitors and a very helpful forum. I'm Chris1992 there.
