Try to set the resolution of the lappy at a higher setting. Surely, you can do that. If not then play around with monitor settings. If that fails, reinstall drivers.
right-click on the desktop and choose properties, or go to "display" settings in the control panel, you should be athe display properties, choose the settings tab, and you should have a sliding bar there for adujusting the resolution.
