I've recently purchased a new computer with a 1GB AMD RADEON™ HD6770 graphics card. After running dxdiag it's become apparent that the card hasn't been recognised, as the only device present under the display option is:
Name: Standard VGA Graphics Adapter
Manufacturer: (Standard display types)
Chip Type: ATI ATOMBIOS
DAC Type: 8 bit
Approx. Total Memory: n/a
Current Display Mode: 1400 x 1050 (32 bit) (1Hz)
Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor
I've been having trouble running games and applications, initially thinking it was due to a faulty RAM stick (which has since been removed) but it's far more likely to be graphics-related.
What can I do to resolve this issue? Aside from replacing the card, of course.
