Graphics Card with Gateway Pc

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I have a Gateway DX4840-03c pc and I was wondering if a ATI Radeon HD5750 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-E Video Card would work with it? I've never put in a video card before so I'm not sure what they require. I checked out the required hook ups for the video card but I cannot tell if my desktop has the required plugs. Thanks for the help

Not sure if your computer will work, I am just learning myself as I upgrade my dell XPS 8300. The specs I found for your computer say it has a 300W power supply, and from what I see about the 5750, you need 450W, so the power supply for sure needs to be swapped before you can use that graphics card. Your computer should be able to use that card, the specs say it has 1 - PCI-E x16, 1 - PCI-E x1, 1 - PCI.

ok thanks. I did a little more research and I seem to have found the same info as you. Thabks for the rePly

No problem. I am going through something similar as I upgrade my new Dell XPS 8300 to perform better for gaming. Upgrading the power supply tonight as well as the graphics card (Radeon HD5850). My first time at doing this, so a bit nervous about wrecking something, and its a tight fit for the power supply, so hopefully it all goes smoothly.

Not sure how much room there is in your case to upgrade the power supply, but it seems like a pretty simple upgrade on paper, I just hate messing with the innards of a computer as I like them to "just work".

good luck.

yea...the PSU that thing has is a 300W supply...which seems to be a bit of a stretch, so if you do upgrade the GPU, go and grab a corsair or similar well known branded unit and then change your graphics card
