Do people need a graphics card and what does it do apart from putting images on to your screen? About to start building my own computer and I would like to pick someones brains first.

Thanks

If all you want to do is browse the internet and general things on your computer then no you do not need a GPU. On saying that not all motherboards come with integrated graphics so you may be forced into buying one.
Gaming and intensive graphics work with photos would definitely gain by purchasing a decent GPU.

bad pool caller

Hi there:) My son's computer had a copy of xp o/s we now have the original xp o/s. When we realised there was a copy of windows xp, after about 3 yrs you couldn't download anything, you couldn't even disk defrag the computer.

My sons friend took the jumper off and put it back on to make the computer go back to factory settings. Well, since then on the screen this comes up:

"BAD POOL CALLER STOP: 0X000000C2 (0X00000043, 0XC97C8000, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)"

I have tried putting the original in the computer to try to copy over or to try to format the hard drive but the computer would only go so far and then give up.

XP would go through the motions, you would get the "welcome to setup" the the licence agreement then the it would go straight to "press any key to boot from cd...."

Could it be anything to do with the bios settings?????

What does it mean??
