Graphics Cards

I Play a lot of PC Games on my Dell Computer, it came with an Intel 82845G Graphics Card, I've Noticed the games have some lag, and some don't even play on it. I want to by a new graphics card, but I'm afraid I'm gonna shell out this money and not be able to tell the difference. Will I be able to tell a difference if I get a better card? Also if possible, if there will be a difference, do you have any suggestions for a better one, (not too expensive). Thanks in Advance for any replies,

lag and such isnt necessarily caused by ur vid card. it a lot of times is caused by ur processor. which processor u running?

edit: btw, the graphics ur using is called integrated graphics, because they are built into the motherboard.

It's A Pentium 4, and about that "integrated graphics" does that mean I have to change the Motherboard?

ir depends on what extensiosn you have. if you have an agp slot, you can get a very good card. if all you have is pci, then the card wont be as good.

p.s what games were you playing and trying to play

Absolutely, that integrated graphics your running now isn't really meant for gaming.

True but in this case it's definitely the biggest issue.

While thats a nice option, first he must make sure hes got an AGP slot on his motherboard. Not to mention check if a better power supply unit is needed. :)

Not if you've got an AGP port on your motherboard.

But full system specs would be nice, I suspect you've got an Intel 845G/L based motherboard though.

Go here to download CPU-Z, a little app which will tell you more specific what motherboard and other hardware your running. :)

How Do I Tell if I Have An "AGP Port"

Also
I'm Playing Games Like Medal of Honor And Call of Duty, things like That

I could pay about 110$ if that is resonable for the hardware
 
downloads the program CPU-z, a link it in tweakers post.

then search the menu of cpu-z till you find the page tweaker posted in his post.
there is the section grafics interface.

you can also look into your case. see if you have a slot free ( usually it above the white pci slots ) wich has a dark colour, and it a bit further away from the backside of the case.

I Did that, and my chipset comes up, (Intel i845G) but the graphic interface section of the program is comepletly blank, what does that mean?

is it possible to take a picture of the motherboard? just to make sure, because formt he sounds of it, you only have pci slots
 
Yes chances are you lack an AGP but you might as well open up the case as we need to know the specs on your Power Supply Unit anyhow.
