Graphics Crad Installation problem

I am building a new pc, i think a disater may have occured, (i may have broke my shiny new graphics card) there looks to be a transistor missing on the graphics card, i could have knocked it off when i was trying to get the damn thing to work. (Yes i know im an idiot). The thing is though the monitor still runs and there is no motherboard included graphics chip, so the card must be running it. The monitor will display the motherboard boot screen and then the system screen then it gets stuck on scanning devices.

Can you find what you knocked? I know things can be quite fragile. A capacitor fell off my 7800GT when I was doing some worl once...

I could be totally wrong, but if you damanged your video card much at all, I wouldn't think it would work... I'm sure there are exceptions and all, but for the most part, I bet just that particular board doesn't have the transistor you think you might of knocked off.

Seeing as you get something out of it, try to tear the machine down and limit out other cards/ RAM, etc...

No idea what i knocked of but the card is running fine as far as i can tell just need to sort out the sound card so i can test it on some games. It passes all the directx test and shows up in the advanced desktop properties.

yea, it sounds more like a bios problem, or maybe something isn't seated firmly into the motherboard. try taking the cpu+ram+video card out and then putting them back in (try each, making sure u do the cpu last because it sucks having to reinstall a cpu)
edit: do you have your small speaker plugged into the motherboard, and if so does it make any noises?
