Hi all,

Just looking at some Gfx cards on ebuyer....im not looking for a card to upgrade my current system:D

Looking for my next comp;)

I seen this and looks a good price...

My queston is...Does the memory size realy matter for graphics cards?
I see that one on link has 320Mb and some of the other 8800 have 640mb and so on.
will only having the 320Mb version of the 8800GTS make it bottleneck or lower performance?

Thanks

It does, but not as much as some people would have you think. For complex scenes with huge textures you'll start to see the impact or low graphics memory, I don't think 320MB can be considered low for a few years though :P

hmm so getting the 320Mb version of the 8800 would be fine for quite some time then?
Thanks;)

It will depend greatly on the size of textures and complexity of 3D models they use, but I'd still think 320MB would be enough for a couple years, a lot of people will still be using 256MB cards.

Yeah, memory is an imprortant issue, like having a 320mb card is better than a 32mb card, but there are also other things to consider like:

Memory Bandwidth, Shader Operations and Fragment Pipelines.

This is a very good web-site that I use very often: www.gpureview.com
