hey, i just bought the new ghost recon and it looks amazing, almost better then oblivion in my opinion, but it seems to be lagging on my computer and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to why.

amd 64bit x2 4200+
nvidia 7800gtx 256mb
1024mb ram 2x512 pc3200
250gb hd sata 3gb/s
nvidia nforce audio
dfi lanparty nf4 ultra-d

is it bottlenecked by the amount of ram i have? should i buy another gig or is it my overall system?

1. You have a very nice system, I dont think its your overall computer

2. Another 1GB cant hurt, it can only benefit you

3. Try downloading the latest drivers for your GPU

Well, the minimum RAM for that game is 1GB. I think since it's at the bare minimum, that could very well be your problem. I would get some more RAM

I was thinking of getting GRAW, so you think its worth the money?

If I can find some time to try it, Im pretty Oblivion addicted nowadays. :)

Edit: What, no AA support? Count me out. hehe

its an incredibly attractive game, very hard, i think, but definitley worth getting, i dont even notice the lack of AA but then again i am running it at 1280x1024 -try the demo its worth downloading if you are spectacle

Theres no AA because it runs HDR. I'm not sure if it can run HDR + AA on Ati cards. I played the demo, didnt really like it, but then I've never played the rest of the series.

The engine doesnt support AA at all, I read a review saying that the game had to be run at crazy res, like 2048x1536 to not see so much jagged edges that ruins the game... hehe

I'm thinking about trying the demo though.

definately more ram will help. Does the game loose it's lag once you've been playing it for more than a couple minutes? I have 1gb of ram and the game lags for the first couple minutes, then runs perfectly fine after that.

for a majority of the time, it runs pretty smoothly, just the screen doesnt follow my mouse perfectly, all jutty, especially when i look up at those huge city horizons, almost like something cant keep up

sounds like you need more ram.
