GRID - is it a good game?

I enjoy driving games - and like paying cheap prices for games that are close to new in graphics - but discount prices. 36 bucks for Dirt 2 or 13 bucks for GRID - GRID looks good to me today. Next year - Dirt 2 can be upgraded from my Demo Version.

Has anybody played GRID

Did you like it

How does it drive?

Thanks

Thanks,

I found a demo online - I'm gonna play it first - but I'm leaning towards picking it up. We'll see how the game plays first.

I don't know if I like SIM - or Arcade - not enough experience with the two. I've always liked Driving games though.

i may be one of the few who dislikes GRID. i didn't like that the physics of the cars felt "floaty". if you like a game something in between an arcade racer and race sim, i suggest Need for Speed: Shift. the handling is much better.

it was nice at the beginning, but i just couldn't get into it enough to finish the career mode. also, my drifting skills sux.

also some cars look like they would be really fast, but are really slow; i'm looking at you Boss 302!

to answer your question:

the short answer would be: no

the long answer would be: noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

but in all seriousness, it is crap. The steering system is abysmal, the physics are crap unless you are crashing, the AI are appauling and will hit you at every oportunity because they won't take any other line but the racing line.

the only good thing about it is that it looks alright and the crashes are epic to watch, but it is, after all, a racing game, not a crashing game, so that makes the second pro useless

Has anybody got this game to work with windows 7?

I tried to D/L two different Demo versions from Gamershell - and they installed ok - When I loaded the game to test it out - I got to choose a car - and then went into perpetual load time.

I never got to play the game

It worked fine for me on win7

But I downloaded NFS shift Demo with no problems - Grid is still not workin for me.

I'll try again when I put in Windows 7 full install in a week or two. My RC is expiring soon anyway.

i love both games. i have grid on the xbox 360, and i got the free dirt 2 with my 5870 ^_^
i like how in grid they have a lot of different styles and levels of racing put into one game. i was able to finish the career and even started play a bit on live. just started dirt tho.
the two games look a lot the same but hey they're still very pretty.

Has anybody here tried one of those subscription services like i-Racing? The concept looks interesting - and from the video I was watching @ Youtube - it looks like you have a more disciplined driver to race against - which makes for a more competitive situation. - since you can't go the smash em up route without getting penalized and stuck on a starter car.

Anybody race there - is it pretty cool - or more lame?

:)

Hi I am not into need for speed, so cannot comment on Grid...however, I can reccomend the following racing games that I thoroughly enjoyed, both in the past an present...please not some of these may be on ps2 (which may be lucky for you if you own a ps2 as well as a pc!!!):

- Fallout Total Carnage
- Fallout 1 and 2
- Crazy Taxi 3
- Sonic Riders
- Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity
- Extreme G Racing 3, and EXG Association
- Sonic R (and old skool classic!!!)

I have also heard that Sega All Stars is coming out for all platforms soon!!! It looks good in the reviews...dunno bout the gameplay though!!!
