Grub noob mistake

Hey guys!

Well I wanted to try Kali (see what a penetration test is like on that distro) and finally decided to uninstall it. Well I though that formatting the partition on Ubunutu with Gparted would be enough but it screwed the Grub start menu and goes directly to Grub recovery asking for a command line.

I understand now that I have to take the entry off Grub, but how can I do that now? I had Ubuntu and Mint already on the HDD and if possible I would like to stay away from formatting the whole thing

If you still have the CD or USB which you stored Kali on, boot into it and enter the live preview (not sure if you can do this on Kali). Then, download Boot-Repair and follow the instructions for Option 2. Boot-Repair will fix problems with Grub and hopefully all will be well.

Alternatively you can follow the 1st option if you can't boot into a live Linux session.

Yeah I was looking at Boot Repair a few minutes ago. I have a Ubuntu CD 13.04 I think I'm guessing this would work the same?

No worries man. Yeah, the tool will work just the same regardless of the operating system, it will just clean up Grub. Of course the most important thing is to load into a live session lol. I had a problem with Grub just last night and Boot Repair worked just fine

Well I did the recommended repair and everything works fine now! It's cool how fast you can repair things on Linux. Not saying you can't do the same on Windows but I'm happy it's also that fast on Linux .
