GTA IV PC delayed and official system requirments announced

Seems there's a game that's finally utilizing more than 2 cores...makes sense because there's a lot going on in a GTA world, and the graphics aren't necessarily super demanding. More like AI calculations, which explains the high CPU req, low GPU.
 
Well ive pre-ordred it on Game and they have not sent me an email or anything,ive just checked on my account and it says

nah dont worry,i think those requirements are overrated,i bet you even slower rigs than mine will be able to handle this game.

i think it will be memory hungry though.

That doesn't make any sense to me. The Intel Core 2's are better performers clock for clock, so why would you need an extra core and higher clock speed for the Intel CPU over the AMD?

Maybe, just maybe it's optimized for AMD CPUs...?
 
Well I think its RS getting free publicity.

Reason I say it shows X3 2.1ghz and 2.4ghz Quad.

X3 2.1ghz is PISS poor slow I think ANY 3.0ghz dual-core will do the job. The reason they put 2.4ghz quad is because Intel has no screw up 3 core processors.

So I doubt it will fully use 4 cores...it might use 3 though.
 
I've given up on this game already, I bet it wont come out in December... I bet it will be more like late Jan/mid Fed at the earliest.
 
I never planned to get it anytime soon...I like to direct 2 download but trying to stay under 250gb cap from Comcast this month...all ready at 150gbs ^-^

Thinking of jumping ship to FIOS I use way to much bandwidth.
 
delayed? play.com are saying it gets released on the 21/11, yet the site you linked to is saying 2/12, anyone know the real release date?
 
Welcome to the Club Twist86, I got sick of waiting too, cancelled my order, and bought that 8600GT for my media PC off Elimin8or on the forums :P Ill get the game when its on my local Walmart shelves.
 
ahh FS i got an email today from game.com saying theyve chanegd teh released date to the 3rd Nov.

What are rockstar doing? :D

Im not going to cancel my pre-order but if they change it again i will do.
 
Honestly not worth the hype, you'll be disappointed I think. Unless you like doing the same thing over and over again for about 90 hours straight.

haha. I like tearin' shit up around the city. It's fun to get into a 4 or 5 star chase and see if you can evade the police, for example. The storyline I liked, although, like you've stated, the missions get a bit repetitive. Overall, I think it's a good game, but I haven't found it very challenging. Haven't beat it yet, but I'm close. Maybe I'll finish it this weekend...

nice, your 5,000th post was on GTA4...

Here is my problem with the game. Super hyped up, going to be the greatest game in history. I buy it, play it for about 4 or 5 days straight after work each day. I notice that I am stuck driving around town hanging out with people, with the same boring conversations, getting drunk, going on dates, and if I don't keep up the social crap I lose ranks with that person and lose perks I would normally get with them.

Combat is kind of lame and super easy, the whole target lock system. However, vastly improved over the previous games for sure.

Driving, kind of sucks in this game. I don't like the physics in it at all. It doesn't feel real. As a person who used to own a german sports car and dive fast (have the speeding tickets to prove it) it doesn't feel anything close to being how a real car handles. Plus this is a video game, it is suppose to be fun.

I mean if I want to get drunk and take out girls I will just do that in real life. The story drags on and the characters are kind of generic. I didn't feel like I was meeting anyone authentic in the game at all. I felt they were all rehashes of movies or what not.

I mean it isn't a horrible game but I would give it a 7/10 tops.
