Gta3

ya you have to put them in with the game files, im not sure about that game but for wolfenstein i just put the files into the main folder, and it works

you have to add the files into the Big datafile using the IMG tool.
(you are replacing cars wich are in the game normally with custome cars :) )

ok, im not familiar with this at all, when i open the IMG Tool, what do i do? im a complete newb 2 this hahaa..

after opening IMG tool simply open the files of GTA and right click on the file to be replace and click on replace the file and you are done. But before doing this you should back up your file.To back up do the same process and instead of replace click on extract and chose the destination to back up.Hope this works.

I replaced the files in GTA san andreas a long ago so i am not quiet sure, may be the file which is named same as you have downloaded.Well in my case in every mod i got a read me file which shows me which file to be replace, extract the downloaded file there must be read me file.Once again i am telling you to back up before doing this coz once you got anything wrong the only way to retrive the file is reinstalling the game.So do back up first.

I have done this with GTA SA before and used Spark as the IMG tool.

Is this what your using?

You need to open the file that stores all your cars and mods in with your IMG program, and put all the mods you downloaded into the mod file.

This should automatically delete the older files.

dont think im using Spark, but i think i might've replaced it, i stated the game up, and the screen with all the people, it just hangs? i let it sit on that screen from like 11:30, til 4!! and still on that screen? would the CD need cleaning? or are the mods just being loaded?

Like i said earlier if you have backed up then just again replace the files you replaced with the original one using IMG tool.

yeahh, but im a super noob 2 this, and have no idea what im doing, soo it;s very hard lol, i tryed 2 replace the .dff and .txd files with the new 1's, but it says that the files are 2 big or something?

Are there not instructions in the downloads? or perhaps at the site where you downloaded the files? I could be of no help because I cannot lend advice on which I've no experience. I'm just really surprised that there would be no Instructions either in the download or on the site you got the files.

Here's basically how to install custom content, keep in mind though that I haven't done this in about 2-3 years now.

1. Backup the files that you'll be modifying, usually it's just the .img files, some script files (depending on what's getting changed)

2. Open the .img file and copy the original file you intend to swap or modify.

3. Import the custom file (custom cars may require that you manually change color settings for the car in a file)

4. Exit the program with which you opened the .img file and start up the game.

Vice City and San Andreas (so I guess GTA3 also) do have programs which can automatically install the mods with just a few click and make backups at the same time. You may want to look into these, however you may not always find a mod you want in the required format that the programs use.

there are instructions, readme's..but still im stuck...

i dont think their IMG files, their .txd and .dff 2 replace, you have 2 replace the old files with the new 1's...

Which are located inside the .img files. That's where all the .txd and .dff files are. The .dff files are the 3D models and .txd are the textures.
