GTA4 for PC is trash?

Lol, it's only trash, if it's played on trash. Runs fine with a steady 50+ FPS, even online.

Even my laptop runs it fine.

whats your full specs? that info in your siggy isnt enough.
you say q6600...but is that overclocked or stock?...you say you have two 4850s...are they stock?...make alot of diffrence in performance.

reduce your graphics settings....even though you have dual 4850 i dont think GTA IV can take advantage of crossfire or SLI.

Yeah, the game doesn't utilize SLI/XFire.

your memory most probably isn't enough for full anyway, 4-6GB is the minimum i'd have thought for it. I know it isn't hugely memory intensive, but 2GB is low for a demanding game like GTA4

I bet it does, Im not worrying about frames Im worrying about the display in game. Why is a street loading only after ive passed over it, why do some of the buildings load only after staying in 1 area for 5 minutes. Why do all the cars drive on invisible roads.

Disable crossfire,re-install those gfx drivers and update your Direct X client with (DXSetup) google that....if that doesnt fix the problem re-install the game and apply the latest patches.

Did all of that, i still have some loading issues but they arent as bad. THe shadows look rly fuzzy as well. i run my Q6600 @ 3GHZ

The shadows always look like that for me

If I turn up my settings to max, the shadows look better but then nothing loads fast enough and im left with invisible walls. Is it my CPU thats slowing the loading or what? The game runs smooth maxxed, the environment just doesnt load fast enough

Lower some settings especially the shadows and your game should run smooth with the rest of the settings either maxed or at medium.
By the way I think maybe your gpu is holding you back a bit on this game

Perhaps, but this game seems to depend more on CPU power than GPU. I'm just wondering why objects arent loading when im driving through the city :(

You should always buy games and support your industries you love. Also, GTA4 is total rubbish, and a crappy game anyway. It is coded crappy and runs like butt, even on the 360 it ran like butt as well as PC.

I felt the game over all was not very polished. I found many glitches in it, and I got so bored with it I just traded it back in at gamestop and ended up buying some other game.

You cant max it out on a 4850 and not expect poor framerates or missing things,Like tlarkin said It isnt coded all that well and doesnt run very effiecient.

Thats why they put that limitation there for the 512mb cards....because they knew themselves that if people put the settings too high the game would run like crap.

The game also loads very slowly on my Q6600 at 3.3ghz,but when its loaded its fine.

Just courius...whats your gfx car temps? Is it overclocked?

GTA IV is a good game imo,But it could have been ALOT better.
