Gts 250 tuning

i have riva tuner and when i looked at my gpu status last night after playing a game for an hour or so it said the gpu was 51c. is that normal? my fan speed is default set to 37% should i up it?

damn, my GTS 250 runs 50 idle, I think 65 gaming

I have more case fans I can turn on though, so I will test those

so ya you're fine

51c is like normal people's IDLE temps ;). Nothing to worry about at all. It's not like CPU temps (CPU idles at 37C for me, loads at 52C, video card idles at 52C, mild load at 58C, full load at 70C).

that seems crazy hot. but then again im new to this. my rivatuner says no supported drivers for this display adapter in the bottom window of the "main" tab. id like to be able to oc it in the future

If its to hot for you just bump the fan speed up some.

That's right. And generally the GPU will run hotter than your CPU. IMO, anything above 80*C is too hot for your GPU. If temps go above that level, def bump up the fan speed.

well from what im reading 65c at load is fine so ill leave the fan speed where its at. i would like to get rivatuner to recognize the drivers though so i can oc it

alright ill try out out. does it matter that its a sparkle card and not an evga. prob a dumb question but i wanna make sure. thanks

i tried it out and overclocked till it started to have glitches than backed off. didnt really see an improvement in cod4 fps. it always maxed out at about 80 and averaged 75 on the highest settings. is this normal?
738-785 core clock
1836-1952 shader clock
1100-1200 memory clock

Yea, I OC'ed and didn't see much of a difference in FPS, just a 3 FPS increase in Crysis Warhead.

Are you talking about temperature or FPS? If it's around 80s and 70s, then it's good. I've read people can't tell the difference in speeds above 60, so yea. I think a huge difference won't been seen unless you get a 100 or 200Mhz increase.

Just curious, but do you have your core clock and shader clock linked? And is your fan set to 100%? Heat causes artifacts, so.

yes they are linked in that evga precision program. if i up the core the shader goes up accordingly. i monitored the heat and it was the same as stock
