GTX 280 or 4850 in crossfire

Also remember that the current catalyst drivers are horrible. So performance should improve, but at the moment it is a risk that it may not even work properly for all games - if at all in cf.

Also make sure you have a sufficient psu.

Ive seen so many benchmarks out there they all vary quite a bit, Ive seen benchmarks where the 4870 single, dominated the 280 in almost everything and vice versa.

I think Ive noticed one thing though, the 280 seems to perform better in Xp than Vista where the 4870 performs better in Vista than in Xp.. Odd.

It seems to me the Nvidia fanboys of yester-year don't know what to do now that Nvidia lost its crown for best GPU maker.

What yester-year as in 12 weeks ago? These things move in cycles (im not a nvidia fanboy), I can assure you that a company the size of nvidia with the resources they have, it will be slam time very soon.

This is all I am saying.... Guys like him just throw stuff up here without even looking at a benchmark.

The original question was "what better, 2 x 4850 or a GTX 280?"

It drives me crazy when people just answer a question and have no idea what they are talking about. All I trying to do is answer the original question.

3dmark 06 v1.1.0 1280 x 1024

4850 in crossfire: 13931

GTX 280: 12951

and it seems to me like the top half of that chart is ATI

ATI > NVIDIA for the time being. you fanboys need to stop kicking a dead horse

so allow me to rephrase:

i hate innacurate Benchmarks, they allow people with no technical knowledge (on both sides) to throw out a link and be automatically recognized as correct without question...

I think it is a little weak, get a 650W corsair and youll be fine...

And if you already have one, then definatly get another one.... Dont change to anothe card...

Just make sure to bump up the fansepeed and get more case fans as your case will get hot. Even open the PCI cover (behind the case) that is below the GPU (like installing a dual slot) as the air get blown out from there (well at least 20%)

And for those who talk about innaccurate reviews, here is a whole bunch...
