Im replacing my crossfire setup (hd4850s) with a single gtx280, will the performance be similar with the gtx 280? A lot of the games I play dont optimize xfire and I will be able to sell both my cards for a gtx 280. Is there another card I should get instead of the gtx 280? Thanks~

What cards are you selling. What kind of power supply do you have. A GTX 285 or a 4890 would be the best choices. The 4890 isn't quite as good as the GTX 285 but can get pretty close depending on how it overclocks.

dual hd 4850s, the 285 is 2x the price of a 280. I dont think thats worth it. I just need something that performs similar to 2 optimized hd 4850s, i want to free up some space in my case and get rid of the issues that come with xfire.

A GTX 285 is only $100 more. Honestly a 4890 would be the best for the money it is only $189.99 with free shipping on newegg.

Your right, I mustve been looking at a different graphics card. Also, do the 4870x2 and 4850x2 cards have issues playing on any games or do they act like 1 card?

I'm pretty sure that the 4850x2 and 4870x2 are just 2 cards in crossfire. I have never heard of it being used as one card. The 4890 is the best for the money right now. Really any single better card then what you have is going to give you a increase in performance. Since most of the games you play don't unitize multiple graphics cards.

The 4890 is the best bang for the buck single gpu at the moment. The GTX285 isnt that much better than a GTX280 however, it overclocks a bit better but other than that its pretty much the same GPU.

Yup, the 4850x2 and 4870x2 are just dual gpu singlecards, kind of a waste in my opinion when you have two 4850's.
