do you think that this will solve the problem none of the psu's ive had have been any brands ive heard of but as soon as i play crysis warhead the gpu temp goes up to 70+ degrees and the psu gets to hot and cuts out

Just because the label says 600w doesn't mean it can cactually output that much. The problem is you've been buying $50 and below el cheapo's that are over rated on their wattage and they pop when you put them under load.'

If you've gone through 4 of them and your system still works consider yourself extremely lucky!

The PSU Lion linked will be fine for what you need.

Sounds to me that you are using not not good enough power supplies, it's just what linkin said, it's not because it said 600W that it can output that much... You have to look at how many amps it output :) hopefully this helps. The GTX 460 isn't a very hungry videocard so if you invest in a descent $70 you should be fine.

just because the power supply says 600watt means jack, its all about the voltage on the 12volt rail (the rail that powers the gpu)

it could be 600watt but only have 20amps going to 12volt rail due to the fact that its a cheap psu, and im pritty sure the voltage wont be stable either.

a decent 500watt would power your rig no problems

well if anyone knows where i can get a decent power supply for approx £60-£70 that would be enough to power the gpu and and stop the computer cutting out would be muchly apreciated!! any suggestions as to make and model of psu would be gr8, thanks in advance, carl :)

@daisy, wouldn't go with the OCZ, because it is OCZ:

$43: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/500W...lus-SLI-CrossFire-EPS-12V-20-24-pin-120mm-Fan

£49: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/530W...ATX-23-Dual-Rail-12v-2x6plus2Pin5xSata4xMolex

£57: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/500W-Antec-EarthWatts-EA-500D-Green-80plus-Bronze-ATX12V-V23

£66: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/550W-Corsair-CMPSU-550VXUK-ATX-PS-2-5-year-Warranty

Would personally go with the last one, the corsair unit is much better than the others, and is more expensive for that very reason, you are getting higher quality. From experience Scan are better than ebuyer or any other company with in the UK for that matter for service, prices and ease of use

I think OCZ do produce good "budget" PSU...
I honestly haven't order from scan before, but I don't have problem getting stuff from ebuyer.
