hello all. im going to get a gtx 670, i just dont know which version to get. the 2 gig, or the 4 gig. i will be using this card for at least a couple years, and will be using a resolution of 1080p, but MAYBE higher later down the road. i want to be sure that with games coming out this year and the next, that im not limiting my card due to memmory limitations. any help and opinions would be great. thank you

I just got a new 2560x1440 monitor, and BF3 on ultra only took up 1.5GB of RAM. Right now I'm kinda regretting getting the 4GB, but other games might use more.

Why regretting it? Arma2 will use 1.8GB at 1920x1080.

Remember, as we progress the gap becomes larger bit is filled faster. And I mean, 10 years ago we jumped from 32MB of VRAM to 128MB. Thats only 96MB but saw a major difference. Then we go from 512MB to 1GB to 2GB, to 4GB. Games will increase there usage as such, or at least thats how its been so far..

And as I said before, next years games will be the true test. When hopefully we get out of this 2005 console trend and see more focus on currently existing technology.

What I am trying to say, is that 500MB or so gap will be used up soon, hopefully sooner than you think. Which means, 2GB wont be enough. Once we get new consoles for them to play with, we may even see some real high resolution textures that will certainly take up more than 2GB of VRAM.

Settings?

My BF3 uses up 2gb maxed with 4xMSAA (minus HBAO)

On ultra settings. I've been wondering how to set up 4xMSAA. I know its from the nvidia control panel, but where? Then it'll probably use that much up.

And GPU-z doesn't recognize my memory right. Doing nothing, its at -3968mb and during games its at -2570mb or so. But I think its a minor bug.

Thats odd. GPU-z just says 0MB on mine. But GPU-z should not change with memory usage, it should only display the maximum memory built onto the card.
