pretty much what the title says. my buddy that bought my old pc thinks that his 2 470's are better than 1 670. thought? which do you think will score higher in bench marks, and which gpu set up would be more powerful out of the 2. thanks

I'd say that one 670 is a better option than two 470s. Just add another one and then totally thrash him. :P

It may or may not be massively faster, but it is more practical. Less power consumption, les heat produced, less driver problems and the list goes on... one 670 is a much better setup IMO.

yeah, we just ran 3d mark 11 on both machines.

his set up:
AMD 1090t 6 core @ 4.2Ghz
8 gigs ddr3 1600mhz
2 x gtx 470 sli

his score...8467

my set up:
intel i7 3770k 4 core @ stock 3.5Ghz
8 gigs ddr3 1600Mhz
1 x gtx 670

my score...9583

im pretty happy with the 670. gives me better scores than the sli set up i had. wasnt expecting that. the 670 is better than an li'd 470...thats pretty sweet. im thinking the cpu shouldnt make a difference since the i7 is at 3.5 and the 1090t is at 4.2 im thinking that should even things up on that end, since at these speeds they are pulling the same amount of GFlops with intel burn test. i think i paid $600 for both those 470's back when they came out, and they only had 1.25 gb of memmory. for cheaper i got 4 gb of memmory and over 2 x the performance....sweet freakn set up....im pretty happy with it.

actually the i7 will be faster, way faster really, the game framerate difference from one to the other will actually surprise you a lot. But with the extra memory and the higher memory bandwidth the 670 has a good lead, and it has a higher core count IIRC than the 2 combined or about equal.

well, what spped should i clock the i7 at to make it more equal to a 1090t @ 4.2Ghz. i can disable a core in the i7 and make it a 3 core with hyperthreading, so it handle 6 threads like the 1090t. but yeah, im loving this 670. its an awsome card, but was a kick in the go nads...$550 i paid shortly after it came out. its cheaper now, but its still an awsome card:good:

You dont have to worry about the processor at all. Only comapre the strait grwphics scores. I am gojng to bet that they are fairly close.

Jonny, you can nit really count cores between different techs as a factor. Kepler has more cores than fermi yes, but clock for clock they are slower, and are missing the hot clock shader feature. Bottom line is 2 kepler cores more or less equal 1 fermi core for gaming. If you go to compute power, the 470s will own him no issue. Takes a 680 to match a 560 non ti in compute performance.
