2 x underclocked GTX 580's, which is what could have been expected from the start really, but more surprisingly, if that is correct, they will come in at around the same price as the 6990 is, making it the better option performance wise

However, they will be shipped with defective drivers that cause overheating problems that can cause this:

They test 3 cards, 2 with the 267.52 drivers, which both went pop like in the video, and 1 with the newer drivers available from the Nvidia website, which were sound, but still quite toasty, but again, that was to be expected, it is after all a dual GPU card

its not the card it self, it the drivers.and i do believe that the 590 will shut down the 6990 when its released, its going to be a monster.

they are pretty much the exact same. The 6990 does better in some games while the 590 does a bit better in others. Its just going to come down to which you like more.

Everything I've read has said different. The 6990 is still king, but the 590 comes in a close second...

Kinda of a 50/50 thing. Probably wont buy either one. Price vs. performance both pretty much suck. Would rather have a couple of 6870/6950 in CF, cheaper too.

i believe that the gtx 580 beats out an 6970, and if that true wouldent the gtx 590 beat out the 6990 since the 6990 is two 6970's and the gtx 590 is two gtx 580's?

this is better

also, check this out

It's about 60/40 to the 590 from what i've seen

They changed the price :(

it was £666.66

=EDIT=

@tech savvy, it is the same chips used that you mentioned, but each are underclocked, and each are put together differently. A multi-GPU card isn't the same as running in SLI/crossfire where, if you were to assume each scaled the same, you would see the better cards in a multi-GPU setup outperform the weaker cards.

They have to try and keep within power specifications and keep heat under control, and the 590 had to be cut back much more than the 6990 has been
