Had an issue with my brothers computer...

So, my bro was installing win xp pro on his computer after getting his new hdd and cpu cooler.

Whenever the installation reached 11% the HDD would start making weird noises and then the PC just shut off.

It turns out that he had the IDE connector in wrong. He plugged the middle connector of the cable into his motherboard, the master into the HDD and the mobo one into the DVD drive. :P

Once that was sorted it worked perfectly :rolleyes:

Lesson: Plug all cables in properly!

Glad to hear you got your brother's computer working properly. What processor motherboard and memory are in his system?
 
He's got my old Foxconn/Acer mobo with a 3.06ghz P4 and 2gb ddr2-667mhz. He's also got my old psu and when i get a new gpu he'll have my 3870. he's lucky, he gets the hand me downs for free! i have to buy all my stuff!

Yes, i'm addicted to this website and the internet in general :P
