Half Life 2/Counter Strike: Source problem

Hey, allright, heres the problem. I have these games, and they have worked fine up to now, but now when i go to play them, they wont open... when i click on the icon nothing happens. anyone know what to do?
 
Customer suport is very good with these things, try that. I seem to remember having this probelam a while ago... Did you change any with with your comp, like video cards, are any settings?
 
I was trying to aviod reinstalling... i havent changed anything, ill try hooking up with customor suport... ill get back to you with the details
 
Go into steam, and under the "play games" tab, right click HL2 or CS:S and go to: Properties>Delete Local game content. Then restart steam, and open up HL2 or CS:S and it will update it and reinstall the neccessary game files you need, and you should be all set to go.
 
I cant even opn it. when i click on it, it sais its allready open. i tried ending the process and then re opening it, but it never worked...
 
Try restarting your computer? Does steam startup with computer, then stop it.. start ---> run --> type msconfig and under startup tab remove steam.exe

Can't open what...steam?!?!...look on your toolbar, is there a steam icon down there
 
Shit, having this problem again. When i go to open Steam it sais its allready running... which its not. Its supposed to be down in the bar but its not. Anyone klnow whats going on?
 
i have been trying that for more then 2 days. i ensured that it is still in startup in ms config... :@ i dunno what to do :(
