Ok, my friend was over here and he showed me how to find out your true FPS in Counter-Strike, im sure its the same for Half-Life, and CS:S, can everyone post there highest averages of FPS.

He told me to make sure I put this because you would think im lieing.

My FPS were all like 305, 308, 315. Where can I post a pic?

tags.

Only fault that I can see in your comment is not that you claim incredibly high FPS which you are right most will doubt you. The real fault is that you did not explain the method on how to find "True FPS".

Is that your FPS for the original counter strike?
 
It does say CS and CS:S in the title, only way i can see getting 300+ fps is if he looks at the menu of the game or when the game is loading or something.

And again I thought this. I have a feeling though he was pulling our legs. Unless he comes back to post otherwise that is what i'll assume.
 
On the netgraph thing in HL2 (shows fps) it has a bunch of different things and it says like "in" and "out" and stuff like that, and the "in" thing always says like 300 something, so maybe thats what he is talkin about.
 
I believe the maxa attainable fps is 300... Not meaning it wont show higher... but the most source will produce is 300... Thats why you would never set max_fps higher than 300.... LIAR!
 
Easily a read error with w/e he is using to detect FPS, more than likely it's reporting higher numbers than he's getting. With my 9200 and SplinterCell it would sometimes report an FPS of 900+...."OMG guyz, my PC is so kool!!11!"
 
the correct way to see frams is cl_showfps 1
You can also allocate system ram to "help" your video card... by using "-heapsize xxxxxxx" in the startup prefernces... where xxxxxxx is up to 1/2 your system ram...I have 3gb so I put in there -heapsize 1500000

Try it out, it boosts total fps... If you set it too high, your game will run choppy, or freeze..
 
Ok, sorry, BigSanta is my friend I was the one who told him to join forum and post something about that. I knew it was unbelievable FPS.... anyway, its on Steams CS 1.6 that he gets 300+ fps.
(Hes a compy noob and wont be on here much.... I tried to get him on though.)

The "TRUE" FPS your getting in CS and stuff, you gotta type "timerefresh" in console. Then it will take about a second or so, then it will show fps like this

(308.3832664 fps)

Ill take a screen shot when im back at his house, its his familys video editing computer, somehow it gets awesome FPS like that.

I know he has a 2.4GHz Intel, 1GB RAM, no idea about what specs though.

Anyway when im back at his house, ill take a screen shot, and post a link to it here or something and prove hes getting that.
 
That's only 1.6 In 1.6 anyone with a good processor can get 300FPS. With mine I get around 150FPS in 1.6

4200
7800gtx 200gbhdd
1 gig ram

in a dark corner looking at the ground i get 300+Fps..

in console fps_max 400

anyways ....in the stress test i get 165fps avg
