Halo Anniversary

Anyone going to get it right away? I'm rather hesitant after reading in Game Informer that the multiplayer will be meshed with people playing Halo Reach, meaning it will have mostly the same multiplayer. Though it was said they will have old school game types from the original Halo. They are making the multiplayer run on Reach's engine because, according to 343, the original engine doesn't have networking capabilities (though xbox connect worked fine on the original Halo >.>). All in all I mainly want it for the campaign because I wanna see it remastered and I've been told they threw in some surprises here and there, along with it having online co-op campaign. Not sure if Just the campaign can justify $40 for me though :S

Most deffinately getting it. Not for multiplayer (although is going to be something new and different) not for the new graphics (although its going to be kick butt to see the original game with todays graphics) but more to have it for my collection.

Not to mention, it will show what 343 is going to be all about.

As for the multiplayer comment you made about being the same as reach... i believe it might have some qualities the same, but combine all multiplayers throughout all halos.

I'm looking forward to it. I loved the original Halo, so getting it with kick butt graphics and new multiplayer is exciting.

Heck yes, looking forward to this one for sure. My wife and I would play this for hours on end, looking forward to doing it again.

got it yesterday.. SO GOOD missed the old campaign so much haha then i see somthing im like hmm i wonder how this used to look then BAM!! hit a button and i get to see it haha then BAM i go back it is great, the only thing you cant switch in the middle of cut scenes and i found the new ones are a bit differnt so if your in the old mode and hit a cut scene you have to watch the old one you cant see the new one, there might be somthing in the menu though and it might have them. still great game for 70 bucks

Newegg has it for $39.99 but with a $10 gift card as well, just an FYI.

I wanted to get it, but I'm all about the multiplayer - I loved the original Halo on PC for multiplayer, buy with the reviews that it's basically just Reach I am thinking twice. Although for $30 it's not that big of a deal, at least it's not $60!

Campaign: Freaking awesome and a huge improvement in graphics and sound (sniper rifle and rocket launcher sound absolutely insane). Love everything that they improved. I also love how much they didn't touch (ie kicking the grunt mask down the huge hole of a base). Is it just me though, i feel as legendary difficulty seems like they amped it up a few notches to actually make it extremely hard.

Multiplayer haven't played yet, but all it is suppose to be is Halo original maps with Halo Reach multiplayer (aka map pack).

As a person loving the Halo series in general (loving the original Halo and having so many memories) i absolutely love what 343 has done.

Just got it today myself, I like it and its pretty well done. But you can see where they skimped and just used halo3 skins and models and stuff. Oh well.

I would give it 5 stars regardless but...The much talked about and highly advertised "switch graphics" button did not live up to its awesomeness. I mean, I guess it was naive of me to think it would be instant and there wouldn't be a dumb black wait screen. @.@

lol ya that is pretty naive. I mean going from dull to greatness needs some time to change....

As far as i know, PC version of Halo is dead. They are and won't be coming out with any more PC versions no more <--sucks... Although 343 is a new company and may change this.

in that case, Halo sucks! Ive always found Halo overrated and not amazing, but id still get it if it was for pc

The only reason i find it nice and amazing is for some aspects of the game:

The multiplayer USED to be way better then COD. Meaning a) no killcam b) decent ranking system c) more game variety and ranges.

Campaign actually holds a true Co-op campaign. Meaning you can go through the campaign together with another person/friend.

The whole story line is a "thinking outside the box" type. There is next to none that match the story line of this.

Variety of gun weapons. Not only do you get the average human gun range of weapons, but you also are provided with alien type of weapons. Choice is totally up to you on what you pick.

**The fact that Halo is now console (xbox) only does indeed make me mad, but still enjoy the game. It would be nice for Halo (now 343 industries) to step up a knotch in graphics wise and extend back into PC, but isn't needed to get me interested in the game. Multiplayer could be vastly improved since the release of the abomination of the game called Halo:REACH.

yeah they arn't bad games, a hell of a lot better than COD but i don't find them anything special since they are essentially just bog-standard sci-fi fps. Still seeing them on PC would be nice, i might even buy Halo 1 or 2 for PC. Any recommendations? 1 vs 2 for pc?

I would look up to see if multiplayer for Halo2 is still supported (don't think it is). Halo"1" as far as i know does not support multiplayer. At least for the console it didn't.

Biased answer would be both, but really all just personal preferance.

Halo 1 definitely supported multiplayer, it just predated the XBox live service. You could play online on the PC version. The console version supported play over LAN, you could connect 4 XBoxes for up to 16 players (something we used to do regularly). It was even possible (not supported by Microsoft though) to connect an XBox to a computer and use that to spoof the LAN connection to someone else over the internet doing the same. There were communities of people that played the original Halo online like this before XBox Live.

Halo 2 was playable on XBox Live but original XBox games were shut down a while back. I'm pretty sure people still play both of them on the PC though.

I guess it is all on how you define "multiplayer" lol... I was using it in the term of via internet.
