hand held DVD recorders

Ok, just wondering what i am doing wrong. I have a canon DC100 that records to DVD-R's the mini one's. I recorded a couple of speakers at a con and now i cannot get the info off the disks onto my laptop. my laptop wont even read the disk. and there is no usb or ieee1349 connection on the recorder. what can i do. Please anyone?

Not to mention common sense would dictate using an optical-storage based video camera is not the ideal way to record speakers.

Wow, thanks for that super awesome assistance there man! you should be some sort of tech support, seriously! maybe i should consult you for my technological purchases since i am incapable of doing so.

anyways, thanks for everyone else's positive support. I have tried it on my laptop and another desktop. still nothing.
