Hand mark on computer - can i get rid of it?

So, I've got thits computer from a friend, and its got this mark on it (uploaded image. Can I get rid of it somehow? I think its from keeping his hand there while playing/writing. And it kinda looks worse than it does..

You won't be able to "remove" the wear mark because the reason it's there is because the finish has been worn off.

You'd have to replace the finish coating to make the mark go away, or paint the whole thing. lol
 
Only way to get rid of it is to look on ebay for that entire top piece to snap back in and throw the bad one out.
 
You could try some heavy cleaner (Goo gone) but as others have said, it's probably worn down rather than dirty. I've never painted a laptop before, but I recall someone showing off a painted Averatec (the laptop I had LONG ago) They apparently put something over the palm rest too to help keep the paint from coming off...
