hanging google searches

my computer is acting iffy fickle, and more peculiar than i have ever seen it, particularly my internet. visiting some websites is very fast, but my google searches hang forever, and never complete, the same is with some other functions and websites.

wow the same happened with me and my friends half a year ago.
we all had a virus.
you should post a hjt log in the security section.

i use firefox on this system mainly, but the same problems occur in internet explorer. how do u do this in firefox?
can u give me a good link to a good program FOR VIRUS SCANNING?
