I have a hard disk drive [Maxtor, 160 or 180 GB] that was the only drive for a system running XP, two NTFS partitions. One day, on turning the computer on, Windows decided that a file was missing. Further evaluation showed that the hard drive has numerous bad sectors. I have installed another drive as primary, and this drive as secondary. Attempts to read some pieces of data from the first partition fail [most succeed], but all attempts to read the secondary partition fail. Windows does not even see it as NTFS. Any suggestions on how to recover this data?
