Hard drive 90% full - new operating system

My friend wants me to reformat his computer like its brand new. I put a new windows XP on it, and put all drivers, it ran like brand new except that the hard drive is 90% full already. My other friend said delete the partition but there is only 1, it is the primary, and it says I cannot do that because I need the files in the temporary folder (When I try from the new XP installation)

Sorry that this is confusing, but please, help.

Go to the bios settings and look for the boot order. Make sure CD rom is first and make sure you hit f10 to save and exit (on most mobo's). Then put the cd in, and it should say 'preess any key to boot from cd'. From there follow the onscreen directions to delete, format, and install.
