Greetings all,

....how about a few names of some EASY hard drive backup programs that i can or will automatically back up a computer hard drive either to a USB EXTERNAL hard drive or an INTERNAL drive.......THANKS

The best way is to create an image....

Acronis True Image: http://www.acronis.com/ - not free, but the best

Free alternatives:
- Macrium Reflect: http://www.macrium.com/ReflectFree.asp
- DriveImage XML: http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm (tutorial: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial160.html)
- SelfImage: http://www.excelcia.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=21
- Paragon Drive Backup: http://www.paragon-software.com/home/db-express/

.....just another inquiry...does acronis (w/out me having to install it to find out) have the ability to back up the hard drive to a slave drive automatically and incrementally?

.....what i mean is, i want to have a backup of the master and ANY changes whatsoever (additional e-mails, files, etc) will overwrite the existing backup but NOT create another separate back up........

I had acronis installed for a little while and if I remember correctly you can set it up to do incremental backups after the full backup is complete.

.....thanks for the reply!...i want to be sure i understand you here...what i want is NOT multiple back-ups but one (1) single backup (icon or file) that gets over written each time a "back-up" is requested or done.....

you can use the NTBACKUP utlity in windows XP (assuming thats your OS). On the home edition its not installed by default but inserting the xp disc and going to
CD-ROM Drive:\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP
and double clicking the ntbackup.msi file will install this on your machine.
