Hard drive compatibility

I'm in the process of shopping for a new hard drive for my computer. I've swapped out the motherboard and CPU, video card, sound card & nic, and power supply and now all I have left(in my scheme of things) is the hard drive. I was wondering if my motherboard, an ABIT IS7-V2, will accept any hard drive, or what hard drives it will accept. I've been looking this up for a little while now to no avail, so I decided to come here and ask around.

Thanks in advance.

it will for sure take any ide drive, if you post a link to your mobo, we could see if it supports sata or not though too

Is there noticeably a big difference between 7,200 and 10,000 rpms? I heard the 10,000rpms hdd make a lot of noise, is this true?

Yes, since they spin faster they are also louder, but also give better performance.

I don't think the noise is all that bad, probably nothing compared to your fans for instance, but the 10k drives are pricey and you only have like 3 choices for capacity, you'd get good performance with a 7200 with a 16mb cache and save money, so don't say no to 7200's just yet
